About Heat & Air Costs
Heat & Air Costs publishes independent price guides for heating and air conditioning in the United States, so homeowners can budget with confidence and recognize a fair quote.
Why we started
HVAC quotes are hard to compare. One contractor quotes $6,000 and another $14,000 for what sounds like the same job, and few explain why. We built Heat & Air Costs to show clear, sourced price ranges and the parts of a project that drive the cost: equipment, labor, ductwork, permits and efficiency.
What we do
- Compile installed price ranges from published cost guides and government resources, and cite them on every page.
- Explain how size, efficiency, fuel and ductwork change the price.
- Publish repair and maintenance price lists so you know what to expect from a service call.
- Offer free tools, including an HVAC cost calculator and an AC size calculator.
- Update our guides regularly and show the update date on every page.
What we do not do
- We are not an HVAC contractor and do not install, repair or sell equipment.
- We do not sell your information to contractors or run a lead-generation service.
- Advertising helps pay for the site, but advertisers have no input into our prices or recommendations.
